This first session of the regional webinar series will introduce the foundations of human rights due diligence and heightened human rights due diligence in conflict-affected and high-risk contexts. It will explore how companies can identify risks, engage stakeholders, strengthen grievance mechanisms, and integrate human rights considerations into responsible business decision-making.
Global trade conditions are evolving in ways that increasingly integrate sustainability-related considerations into market access. Regulatory measures, buyer-driven requirements, certification systems and financial risk assessments are progressively shaping the conditions under which goods are traded. Carbon-related trade instruments, emerging packaging and circularity standards, and growing documentation expectations are not uniform across markets; however, they share a common feature. They require credible, verifiable evidence.
For export-oriented economies such as Lebanon, these developments intersect with industrial competitiveness, cost structures, and access to finance. Companies operating across regulated and buyer-driven markets are required to navigate overlapping frameworks while maintaining commercial viability. This dialogue is convened in recognition of the need for clarity, proportionality and strategic coherence in responding to these shifts
