National Education Platform Conference at MUBS

Beirut, Lebanon (April 26, 2024) – On Friday, April 26th, UN Global Compact Network Lebanon Executive Director Deenah Fakhoury spoke at a panel event organized by the Modern University for Business & Science (MUBS) at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon as part of the National Education Platform Conference “Bridging Horizons, Shaping Futures.”

As part of the panel discussion, titled “Educating for a Sustainable Future,” Ms. Fakhoury introduced the work of the UN Global Compact Network Lebanon with the youth – mainly to do with our flagship SDG Brain Lab programme and SMART Youth community impact initiative supported by the Malala Fund – in line with our mission to prepare future generations for the workplace and upskill them to ensure their success in an ever-fluctuating job market.

“Sustainability cannot be taught as a standalone course, but rather needs a holistic approach and should be embedded in all subjects and majors in order to truly shape sustainable minds,” added Ms. Fakhoury as part of her intervention. Attendees also heard from ministers, researchers, professors, and other experts in the field of education about how we can best address critical challenges and propose innovative solutions for transforming Lebanon’s educational landscape.
